Compared to standard 4mm single glazing, Double Glazing can reduce the transfer of heat by as much as 70% depending on the glass type and airspace used. That’s because, rather than being just a single sheet of glass, Double Glazing is an insulating unit made up of two sheets of glass with an air cavity between.
You can enhance its effectiveness by specifying that the Double Glazing be made with Energy Advantage Low E. This glass has a special, transparent coating that bounces heat back into the interior of your home. You can also have the air cavity filled with argon gas, which increase heat retention by around 10%.
Great Insulation Means Less Energy Consumption Minimising heat loss in winter and heat gain in summer means less energy is needed to heat or cool your home - and that means lower power bills. The benefits to your bottom line do not stop there. You’ll be protecting the resale value of your property too, as Double Glazing is becoming a desirable feature in the retail market.
